The eco-friendly nature as well as processing advantage, light weight and low cost have enhanced the attraction and interest of natural fibre reinforced composite. The objective of current study is to study mechanical and interfacial properties of jute reinforced low density polyethylene composites and sisal fibre low density polyethylene composites and to compare the properties with jute-sisal reinforced hybrid composite. The composites are to be prepared by film stacking followed by hot compaction process. Fabrication and mechanical analysis of jute-sisal hybrid composite

The new two-time-level dispersion improved CABARET scheme is developed as an upgrade of the original CABARET for improved wave propagation modelling in multiple dimensions and for nonlinear conservation laws including gas dynamics. The new upgrade retains many attractive features of the original CABARET scheme such as shock-capturing and low dissipation. It is simple for implementation in the existing CABARET codes and leads to a greater accuracy for solving linear wave propagation problems. A non-linear version of the dispersion-improved CABARET scheme is introduced to efficiently deal with contact discontinuities and shocks. The properties of the new linear and nonlinear CABARET schemes are analysed for numerical dissipation and dispersion error based on Von Neumann analysis and Pirrozolli's method. Numerical examples for one-dimensional and two-dimensional linear advection, the one-dimensional inviscid Burger's equation, and the isothermal gas dynamics problems in one and two dimensions are presented. © 2017

Flux-corrected dispersion-improved CABARET schemes for linear and nonlinear wave propagation problems

Objective: Cervical cancer is the most leading cause of mortality and morbidity in women. Most of these are caused by human papilloma virus (HPV) which are sexually transmitted. Among 200 HPV types, high-risk HPV16 persists in humans and results in precancerous lesions and cervical cancer. The viral E6 oncoprotein which is necessary for malignant conversion of HPV 16 is used as the potential target for the inhibition of HPV infection. The present study aims to investigate the inhibitory activities of the seventy-four bioactive compounds from different marine organisms against the viral E6 oncoprotein of HPV16 using computational techniques. Methods: Virtual screening technique has been applied to identify the potent bioactive compounds against E6 oncoprotein of HPV16 using Molinspiration and is subjected to drug-likeliness assessment using the Molsoft server. Molecular docking was carried out for E6 protein (4XR8) with selected hits obtained from virtual screening method and their binding energies were determined. Further Molecular Dynamic Simulation (MDS) studies of the obtained protein-bioactive inhibitor complex were performed to analyze the stability and conformation. Results and Conclusion: Four potential hits were identified from virtual screening and finalized against HPV16. Molecular docking studies revealed Salicylihalamide B from Haliclona species has shown the better interaction with E6 oncoprotein and gives the best binding energy of -8.92 Kcal/mol. The MDS studies inferred that the complex was found to be steady after 40 ns. As an outcome, Salicylihalamide B plays a promising role against E6 protein of HPV16 and hence can act as a template for further studies on cervical cancer drug candidates. © 2018 Pavithra Dhamodharan et al.

Computational investigation of marine bioactive compounds against E6 oncoprotein of Human Papilloma Virus-HPV16

Pressure-concentration isotherms (PCIs) of LaNi4.6Al0.4 metal hydride are measured using a Sievert's Apparatus at different temperatures to study the phenomenon of the formation of metal hydrides. PCI properties (plateau pressures, plateau slope, hysteresis, etc.) and thermodynamic properties (reaction enthalpy and entropy) of LaNi4.6Al0.4 metal hydride are calculated. To understand the effects of measurement parameters on PCI and thermodynamic properties the experimental conditions are varied. During the PCI measurements, the available pressure differences between supply volume and reactor volume are varied from 1 bar to 4 bar, then effects of the pressure interval (pressure difference) during each step of the absorption/desorption PCI measurement on the hydrogen storage capacity, equilibrium pressure, plateau slope, metal hydride bed temperature and hysteresis are studied. All of these properties showed a significant variation with pressure intervals. Later, to study the effect on thermodynamic properties, van't Hoff plots are constructed for wide temperature range and reaction enthalpies are calculated for different temperature points. The effect of the temperature range on the enthalpy of formation is observed to be dependent on the experimental temperature range. © 2017 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

Effects Of Measurement Conditions On Pressure-Concentration Isotherm And Thermodynamic Properties Of Lani4.6al0.4 Hydride

Over the recent years, information technology is transferred from the usage of mainframe computer systems to client-server models, embedding new principles, concepts and techniques. It is currently known as cloud computing. The primary motivation for embarking on cloud computing, as advocated by computer science experts, encourages users to abandon the burden of computer hardware needs, time – sharing utility demands and network system needs. It is also used to embrace the utility of commercial grid systems, which guarantee to reduce overall client – side requirements and system complexity. While being attracted to cloud computing, it is realized that there are several unchartered risks and challenges introduced along with this relocation decision. Primarily, effectiveness of the traditional protection mechanisms is deteriorated. Despite the above shortcomings of cloud computing, the utilization and attraction of cloud computing are still expanding inwardly from general to manufacturing – based cloud computing. Cloud computing aids in the creation of intelligent factory networks and prominently in crafting the features of product life-cycle services such as product design, manufacturing, testing and management. In this manufacturing-propelled cloud computing system, the traditional operating paradigm of shop-floor control system exists and it consists of material requirement planning (MRP), enterprise resource planning (ERP), master production scheduling (MPS), reorder point system (RPS), sales and operations planning (S&amp;OP) has been abandoned. Instead, a coordinated system has all these planning and operation modules embedded into it. It has evolved directly and indirectly. Design and analysis of secure data enhancement in a digital manufacturing system

The purpose of the present work is to understand the evolution of residual stresses in weldments. The study made to weld the multipass dissimilar of Nickel-based superalloy Inconel 625 and stainless steel 316L using Continuous Current Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (CCGTAW) and Pulsed Current Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (PCGTAW) process employing ERNiCrMo-3 and ERNiCr-3 fillers. The L4 orthogonal array was used in the present experimentation process. Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) is applied for the optimization and to identify the critical parameters. In welding process, the size of the lattice size will be stressed due to welding parameters; the lattice dimension is measured by non-destructive technique X-Ray diffraction to investigate residual stress in the weldment in the lateral surface of the plate. X-Ray Radiography test has evaluated the quality of welds. Effect of Residual Stresses of GTA Welding for Dissimilar Materials

In the recent years, the engineered colloidal fluids called nanofluids plays a vital role in many heat transfer systems due to its excellent thermophysical properties, and heat transfer rate. However, most of the research studies purchased the nanomaterials from the suppliers and this involves higher cost which further increases the cost of the heat transfer devices. Hence, a low cost graphite powder is converted into reduced graphene oxide (rGO) and detailed characterizations have been done in this work. An aqua based rGO nanofluids with 0.0005, 0.001, and 0.002 wt. % is then prepared by two step method. The nanofluids are found to be stable up to 10 days because of oxygenated groups on the edge of rGO flakes. The rGO nanofluids show an enhancement in thermal conductivity and surface tension in comparison with the base fluid. Viscosity of nanofluids increases with concentrations and Newtonian behavior is also observed for all the tested concentrations. © International Journal Of Renewable Energy Research, 2018.

An aqua based reduced graphene oxide nanofluids for heat transfer applications: Synthesis, characterization, stability analysis, and thermophysical properties

This paper discusses the performance enhancement of supersonic air intake model through the implementation of blunted leading edge to the cowl lip section of the model. A supersonic air intake model with sharp cowl leading edge is initially considered to numerically investigate its performance. Mach 3, supersonic intake flow through the base model has been simulated using commercial CFD package Ansys Fluent-15. Comparison of numerical predictions and experimental measurements is presented to demonstrate the correctness and accuracy of numerical frame work followed in the present study. Higher order spatial accuracy of the solver along with suitably refined mesh helped in accurate capturing of the flow field. Modification to the cowl lip is proposed as an effective method to improve the performance of the supersonic air intake. Two different blunted cowl leading edge geometries were investigated to identify the possible enhancement in performance parameters. Improvement in mass capture and combustion stability attained through the use of forward shifted blunt cowl leading edge is presented. It is also revealed through the present study that the blunt cowl leading edge can reduce the intensity of shock wave boundary layer interaction occurring at the isolator entry section. Deviation in total pressure recovery and flow distortion observed with different supersonic air intake models are also discussed with reasons for the same. This study demonstrates the scope of overall improvement in scramjet engine performance through the use of suitably positioned blunt cowl leading edge.

Alterations of cowl lip for the improvement of supersonic-intake performance

Energy analysis plays a vital role in the industry due to the use of electrical energy, global warming, and economy crises. This paper describes the waste heat available in the exhaust of the steam turbine and beneficial use of the waste heat. The sugar industry steam turbine exhaust carries enthalpy of steam at 2500 kJ/kg, this thermal energy can be put into beneficial use as the heat source to the vapor absorption refrigeration system to compensate energy required for DC thyrist motor, and this can also be used for cold storage. Energy savings in terms of cost and fuels are calculated. Investigation on the heat and mass transfer in evaporator has been carried out in vapor absorption system by varying the operating parameter. Less circulation ratio is required to increase the coefficient of performance. The inlet temperature of the coolant should be less for achieving higher coefficient of performance. © 2017 Society of Thermal Engineers of Serbia.

Thermodynamic analysis of a single effect lithium bromide water absorption system using waste heat in sugar industry

In this article, an attempt has been made to design a new updraft fixed bed advanced microgasifier cookstove (ACS). The newly developed ACS stove has been tested with a Tamarind seed pellet as fuel. Results have been analyzed in terms of energy and exergy efficiency, emissions and economics (4E). The testing practice adopted for evaluation of the performance of the ACS stove is as per the standard protocol WBT 4.2.3. The energy efficiency of an advanced cookstove was found to be 35% and the exergy efficiency of 17.3%. Experiments have also been performed to provide data for investigation of the emission characteristics of the new stove.
