Presentation skill is an important employability skill that makes learners convey their ideas with confidence. It is a much required skill at workplaces, and employers look for it in employees during the interview process because presenting ideas with clarity and effectiveness is very much needed at workplaces. Developing presentation skill in classroom is important because it not only develops the communication skill of students but elevates their level of confidence. As presentation has become an indispensable part of tests pertinent to speaking, this study focuses on developing the presentation skill of students. It is believed that Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) techniques would help in achieving the task of making students present their ideas in English with confidence. A pilot study was carried out with a group of twenty students in order to assess the effectiveness of NLP techniques in developing the presentation skill of students. The study found a considerable difference in the presentation level of the students before and after implementing NLP techniques. Hence, the study affirms that NLP techniques are quite useful in improving the presentation skill of students. © 2020 IUP. All Rights Reserved.

Neuro-linguistic programming (NLP) techniques: A therapeutic approach to enhancing the presentation skill of engineering students

The overwhelming choice of restaurants often leads to confusion among consumers. The choice of consumers are influenced and determined by several factors. Most of the consumers read online reviews about the restaurants and make a choice based on review ratings. The article aims to analyze various factors that influence a customer in choosing a restaurant, the mode of payment, the overall review and satisfaction of the customers. A survey on students’ preference and satisfaction towards restaurants was conducted in Chennai. A questionnaire was circulated among the students personally and through various social media platforms. The collected data is analyzed with the statistical methods and the results are visualized on R studio, a free software environment for statistical computing. Further a comparative study is done on an average expenditure spent on food during a normal weekend and exam weekend. The statistical model discussed in the data provides the percentage of girls and boys participated in the survey, students’ preference of restaurants outside as well as inside the campus, the occasions in which they dine out and mode of payment (like cash, card, paytm etc.,). The article explores students’ expectation before placing an order in a restaurant, the average rating of the restaurants in general, quality and satisfaction of the customers. © 2020 SERSC.

The essay examines Robin Cook’s (1977) Coma and Priscille Sibley’s (2013) The Promise of Stardust that dramatize the reified and disposable status of the brain-dead patients who are classified as nonpersons. The essay argues that the man-machine entanglement as depicted in the novels constructs a deterritorialized and entangled form of subjectivity that intervenes in the dominant biomedical understanding of personhood and agency that we notionally associate with a conscious mind. The essay concludes its arguments by discussing Alexander Beliaev’s (1925) Professor Dowell’s Head which depicts human subjectivity as an essentially embodied and distributive phenomenon and interrogates the Cartesian mind body dualism embedded in the dominant biomedical narratives. © 2018, Springer Science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature.

This essay examines Kishwar Desai's Origins of Love (2012) in order to foreground how the novel is complexly reflective of the biomedical technologies strategically deployed by medical practitioners and prospective parents for the purpose of reinforcing caste-based bionormative notion of family that artificial reproductive technology is assumed to have problematised. The essay also demonstrates how the use of bioenhancement facilities has led to the revival of neoliberal eugenics enmeshed with state-led biopolitics. The essay draws on the concept of renaturalisation discussed by Tamar Sharon in order to examine how the schizophrenic or deterritorialising potential of reproductive technology is reconfigured and domesticated by the medicolegal practitioners in order to reterritorialise the normative structures of kinship and family formation within a capitalist consumerist culture. © Author(s) (or their employer(s)) 2020. 'These were made-to-order babies': Reterritorialised Kinship, Neoliberal Eugenics and Artificial Reproductive Technology in Kishwar Desai's Origins of Love

Vocabulary is the flesh of a language, which is an indispensable constituent for a language. This research highlights the role of language learners' acquisition in incidental and intentional vocabulary by using technological modality. Effective usage of vocabulary in communication and comprehension is crucial and demanding as well. English being the diplomatic language, and which is witnessed as a parameter for graduates, particularly in job acquisition. There are numerous teaching methods were followed for effective learning. In order to benefit, English as a second language (ESL) learners and English as a foreign language (EFL) learners, task-based learning (TBL) approach is observed to be an effective learning method. This paper devices to use technology, entertainment, and design (TED) talk video with subtitles in the syllabus of TBL learning for effective learning of incidental and intentional vocabulary in language and succeeded by analysing the response from the students. The study reveals the significant development and interest in learning a new word by using the authentic instructional TED talk videos for vocabulary learning and vocabulary acquisition. Purpose of the study: This work explores feminism as a conceptual framework for viewing society and its impact on women by analyzing the changes in women’s life and attitude through the film Pink. Methodology: The study is descriptive research and is analyzed through the content and follows interpretive methods for critical analysis. Main Findings: An amazing, valiant movie that spotlights on real young women who live genuine lives and manage thorny routine issues, which every young woman faces all over the world and relates with. Applications of this study: The present work is interpreted in the light of feminist theory and criticism which has paved path for many solutions all over the world through not only writings but also by various means, in which films play a vital role where the struggles have been brought out in the screen so that women could relate themselves with the characters portrayed in the films which are not only imaginative; but the real face of many unknown women in the society. Novelty/Originality of this study: The present work differs and deals with the co-existence that this society should abide by, be it a man or women both have equal roles in the society and through the lead actor this bold issue has been dealt in the film Pink.

A JOURNEY FROM STRUGGLE TO PROMINENCE IN THE INDIAN FILM PINK

Purpose of the study: Activity based learning helps students to learn actively in classroom and it also provides ample scope for experimental learning. Students are to be provided opportunities and optimum learning environment to explore their knowledge and skills. It would broaden the understanding of concepts and theories in their core premises. It enhances the learning process and the students as active learners. Methodology: Interactive learning strategies are categorized as individual learning and group learning strategies. Individual activities may include flipped learning, polling answers and questions. Group activities include pair and share strategy, inspire and initiate scenarios. Main Findings: Interactive learning strategies, E-Learning and M-Learning are preferred modes for the students, promotes the cognitive level of the learners, achieved learning objectives. It is essential to suggest and design innovative learning practices. Implications: Higher education institutions and even schools are using various enhanced interactive learning practices, educational apps and M-Learning techniques. These activities enhance the student engagement in the classroom. By implementing activity based learning practices, learners become investigators and strive to make best real time decisions for different scenarios.
