Vocabulary teaching is one of the most imperative aspects of instruction for ESL learners because it influences both productive and respective skills of students. This prudent study stresses and explores how to use hyponyms of the select TED wordlist nouns in academic writing. Therefore, the qualitative gap in vocabulary understanding of ESL learners can be linked. The method made use of WordNet to evaluate and the outcome was analyzed. The acquired results of this research revealed that the effective use of WordNet increased more acquaintance for learning the meaning of new vocabulary. Improving Noun Hyponyms Using Select TED Wordlist through WordNet: An Investigational Study

This paper aims to bring about a comparison between the philosophies of Jiddu Krishnamurti, Ayn Rand, Jacques Derrida and Friedrich Nietzsche. The universal nature of these philosophies and how they measure up against each other will be analyzed. Furthermore, the superiority of Jiddu Krishnamurti’s philosophy over the others (philosophies mentioned above) is also tested in terms of universality and humanistic values. The litmus test for all these theories is whether they can impact every individual in their quest for inner peace. Hence, all the theories are examined and compared for the attainment of peace, fulfillment and joy for every individual as a world citizen, not on the basis of nationality, religion or community. © 2019, Institute of Advanced Scientific Research, Inc.. Be it for the purpose of seeking better education, to make a living or just to live a busy life full of hustle and bustle, people find themselves travelling to huge metropolitan cities. With the numbers increasing with leaps and bounds, the cost of living is drastically affected. The resources are used extensively, but the process of mass production acts as a counter to this in some sectors. It is imperative to be aware of the necessities and their costs in these cities to plan a satisfactory life, without causing a ruckus and ending up broke. Keeping in mind, the necessity of living in these metropolitan cities, a statistical study is aimed to analyse the cost of living in these huge hubs, which would help the people to get a good idea of the financial challenges and aid them to plan their budget for comfort life. The study involves a survey inquiring about the cost of basic amenities required to live in metropolitan cities in India. The average expenditure of people is to determine the deviation across the country. Testing of hypothesis is applied to test the significant difference between average from our observations (which acted as sample) and average from the internet source (as population). The statistical study proves to be an efficient tool in identifying the most cost efficient city, to sustain a satisfactory life at minimal expense and financial efficiency in various aspects. The result clearly indicates the significance of the data analytics which guides the individuals to plan their future living in these humungous cities. The report serves as an aid to the common masses to sustain a satisfactory lifestyle in the buzzing metropolitan cities, getting the most out of every penny. © BEIESP.

Cost of living in metropolitan cities: Statistical analysis using R studio

Era of technology has bestowed with plethora of developments and evolution in the routine human life. One field in which such changes could be experienced much is the genre of films. In the recent past, there are myriads of films released with the concept of AI (Artificial Intelligence). The globe of AI, is often an interesting topic for the engineering graduates but it is not focused by the students pursuing graduation in Humanities. The objective of this research critique is to bring out how AI could be introduced in humanities classrooms using films. Attempt is made to justify the objective using a few films as examples.

“Humanities to Humanoids”: Edutainment of Artificial Intelligence through Ict

Prophenoloxidase is a conserved Cu-containing enzyme acting as a major defense molecule in the immune response of crustaceans. In the present research, we purified prophenoloxidase from the haemolymph of Portunus pelagicus (Pp-proPO) by Blue Sepharose CL-6B chromatography. Pp-proPO exhibited only one band with molecular weight of 75 kDa on SDS-PAGE. The purified Pp-proPO was characterized through X-ray diffraction (XRD) and high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). Pp-proPO showed phagocytic activity on the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae as well as encapsulation on sepharose CL-6B beads associated with CM sepharose and beads of sodium alginate. Pp-proPO also led to strong agglutination on human erythrocytes. Furthermore, Pp-proPO showed magnified PO activity when altered with activated particles acting as pathogen combined molecular patterns (PAMPs), metal ions or other chemicals. Pp-proPO showed relevant antibiofilm activity on Gram negative bacteria Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Escherichia coli. Overall, the above results allowed us to claim that Pp-proPO play a key role in immune defense mechanisms of P. pelagicus crabs, in particular towards microbial pathogens; notably we added basic information to the functional characterization of Pp-proPO, as well as to understand its immunological role in crustaceans defense systems. © 2018 Elsevier B.V.

Identification, characterization and immune response of prophenoloxidase from the blue swimmer crab Portunus pelagicus and its antibiofilm activity

Using the technological devices all the time is the order of the day for students nowadays. The question ‘Why we should not cash in on their liking towards those devices’ kindled the researcher to carry out a study to know the effect of using such a device on their writing performance. However, using technological devices outside the class room is more beneficial and thus, enables the instructor to flip the class. In fact, inverting the class delegates the responsibility to students and lets teachers to clarify their doubts in the next day’s class and check their understanding with the time available. At the same time, it provides plenty of opportunity for students to get a thorough knowledge about the topic prepared by the teachers using devices. The aim of present study is to find out which instructional model, traditional or flipped improves the writing skills. The students who constituted the sample attempted to write a project proposal on two different tasks, the assigned tasks both after the traditional Instructional model (teacher- centered teaching)&nbsp; and after their exposure to the audio clippings on ‘How to write a project proposal’ prepared by the instructor cum researcher. The parameters set for the study to measure the improvement in their writing performance are the following: content, organization and readability of the proposal prepared. The correlation co-efficient using R statistical software is found to be in supportive of flipped instructional model than traditional instructional model for the utilization of the available class time for questioning and discussion on the modality of writing a project proposal.

Young Adult Literature is still an emerging term in India, yet it has broken the stereotype that it deals only with superficial issues and is a less serious literary genre. Nilima Sinha’s first Young Adult Novel Red Blooms in the Forest effectively brings out the victimisation of people and the reasons for young adults’ deliberate involvement and participation in the Naxal movement. Naxalism, which is considered to be the greatest threat to internal security of India, started with the objective to liberate the rural masses from the clutches of the feudal class. The current economic policies of liberalisation, privatisation and globalisation have significantly affected the livelihood of the rural masses and puts social welfare and employment in jeopardy. The economic reforms induced by corruption and poverty have triggered social crisis on people from every stratum of society. The study analyses the young adult novel Red Blooms in the Forest and brings out the view that the Naxal movement, which was started to liberate the rural masses, has now turned into a trap. The distorted resistance has proved to be a Frankenstein monster that threatens the capitalists, the downtrodden/the oppressor and the oppressed alike. © Universiti Putra Malaysia Press.

Research in artificial intelligence and cognitive computing (simulation of human thought processes in machines involving self-learning systems and processes that efficiently use pattern recognition such as detecting voice, or acquiring data (data mining) and imitating human thoughts in machines) is an evolutionary and innovative field acquiring knowledge from liberal arts, humanities such as management science, philosophy, psychology. The need to rely on these disciplines is of vital importance and strategic value in today's technology up-gradation as robots are designed to think and behave like human-beings. Robotic technology can assess and solve problems through the aid of human intervention and support. Issues that are of a laborious nature can be solved through machine technology and processes or machines and humans must work together to solve larger problems of which the dire need is where humans and machines need to work together in solving problems of global warming and climate change. India's technological climate: a harbinger in resolving and reducing the carbon footprint

Background: Technological advancement has revolutionized various aspects of healthcare sector. The term e-Healthcare and its usage evolved in 1990s. The global term, e-Healthcare is a reference to everything that is related to computers, internet and medicine. e-Healthcare is relatively a new phenomenon and rapidly growing sector in India. It includes clinical customer services, storing health records, sharing health information, health surveillance, healthcare courses, programs and research. Though there are unprecedented e-services happening in health care sector, identity or data theft is considered as one of the major issues in e-health care. Methods: The study aims at analyzing students’ e-health preference and readiness through a survey questionnaire among engineering undergraduates in Chennai. Results and discussion: A survey analysis is attached to figure out students’ e-health readiness. The study also reveals the lack of opportunities to use internet and apps for health. The lack of awareness about e-health in India is majorly because of no or slow access to internet in rural areas. Though doctors prefer online services, students are worried about cyber security and threats. Students opinion that Government and Health care service providers should safeguard patients’ identity by ensuring individual’s right to privacy and dignity. Conclusion: Various parameters available in the form of technology are discussed and successful national healthcare startups are listed to focus on ‘Health care to every citizen’.
