A green synthesis approach has been adopted to prepare nickel sulphide nanoparticles (NiS NPs) using banana peel extract (BPE) as a reducing and capping agent. Polyvinyl alcohol (PVA)/NiS nanocomposite films were fabricated using a cost-effective solution casting technique by dispersing different contents of NiS NPs (0-3 wt%) in the PVA matrix. Various characterization techniques were employed to analyze the structural, thermal and morphological properties of the PVA/NiS nanocomposite films. Further, the dielectric behaviour of these nanocomposite films was investigated at frequency range 50 Hz-20 MHz and in the temperature range 40 °C-140 °C. Also, there exists a significant interaction between the polymer matrix and the nanofiller as evident from the notable improvement in the dielectric properties of the nanocomposites. The dielectric constant (ϵ) value of PVA/NiS nanocomposite film with 3 wt % NiS NPs loading was found to be 154.55 at 50 Hz and at 140 °C which is 22 times greater than the dielectric constant value of neat PVA (6.90). These results suggest that NiS NPs were dispersed homogeneously in the PVA matrix. © 2020 The Author(s). Published by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Enhanced dielectric properties of green synthesized Nickel Sulphide (NiS) nanoparticles integrated polyvinylalcohol nanocomposites

There is no ideal detector-phantom combination to perform patient specific quality assurance (PSQA) for Total Marrow (TMI) and Lymphoid (TMLI) Irradiation plan. In this study, 3D dose reconstruction using mega voltage computed tomography detectors measured Leaf Open Time Sinogram (LOTS) was investigated for PSQA of TMI/TMLI patients in helical tomotherapy. The feasibility of this method was first validated for ten non-TMI/TMLI patients, by comparing reconstructed dose with (a) ion-chamber (IC) and helical detector array (ArcCheck) measurement and (b) planned dose distribution using 3Dγ analysis for 3%@3mm and dose to 98% (D98%) and 2% (D2%) of PTVs. Same comparison was extended for ten treatment plans from five TMI/TMLI patients. In all non-TMI/TMLI patients, reconstructed absolute dose was within ± 1.80% of planned and IC measurement. The planned dose distribution agreed with reconstructed and ArcCheck measured dose with mean (SD) 3Dγ of 98.70% (1.57%) and 2Dγ of 99.48% (0.81%). The deviation in D98% and D2% were within 1.71% and 4.10% respectively. In all 25 measurement locations from TMI/TMLI patients, planned and IC measured absolute dose agreed within ± 1.20%. Although sectorial fluence verification using ArcCHECK measurement for PTVs chest from the five upper body TMI/TMLI plans showed mean ± SD 2Dγ of 97.82% ± 1.27%, the reconstruction method resulted poor mean (SD) 3Dγ of 92.00% (± 5.83%), 64.80% (± 28.28%), 69.20% (± 30.46%), 60.80% (± 19.37%) and 73.2% (± 20.36%) for PTVs brain, chest, torso, limb and upper body respectively. The corresponding deviation in median D98% and D2% of all PTVs were &lt; 3.80% and 9.50%. Re-optimization of all upper body TMI/TMLI plans with new pitch and modulation factor of 0.3 and 3 leads significant improvement with 3Dγ of 100% for all PTVs and median D98% and D2% &lt; 1.6%. LOTS based PSQA for TMI/TMLI is accurate, robust and efficient. A field width, pitch and modulation factor of 5 cm, 0.3 and 3 for upper body TMI/TMLI plan is suggested for better dosimetric outcome and PSQA results. © 2020, The Author(s).

Leaf open time sinogram (LOTS): a novel approach for patient specific quality assurance of total marrow irradiation

Ba0.5Sr0.5Fe12O19/Y3Fe5O12 (BSFO/YIG) nanocomposite ferrite with hard (BSFO) and soft (YIG) magnetic phases, were prepared by the two-step co-precipitation method. The soft magnetic phase was introduced in different weight ratios (x= 0.0, 0.1, 0.2, 0.3, 0.4 and 1) in the (1-x)Ba0.5Sr0.5Fe12O19/(x)Y3Fe5O12 nanocomposite ferrites. The structural, morphological and magnetic properties of nanocomposite ferrites were analyzed by x-ray diffraction (XRD), high-resolution transmission electron microscope (HR-TEM) and room temperature vibrational sample magnetometer (VSM). The presence of the hard and soft phase have been confirmed without any secondary phase from the XRD analysis, indicating the formation of nanocomposite ferrite. The crystallite size is found to be in the range of 45-55 nm calculated by Scherrer's formula. The HR-TEM revealed hexagonal platelets of BSFO with YIG particles with an average particle size of 90 nm formed at the surface of the (0.9)BSFO/(0.1)YIG nanocomposite. The room temperature magnetic properties of the nanocomposite, such as saturation magnetization (Ms), squareness ratio (Mr/Ms), coercivity (Hc) and nucleation field (Hn) were evaluated by employing VSM. The magnetic measurements have displayed an enhancement in coercivity and magnetization for (0.9)BSFO/(0.1)YIG. Compared with pure BSFO, the optimized (0.9)BSFO/(0.1)YIG nanocomposite showed 57% enhancement in energy product (BH)max, indicating that the nanocomposite possessed excellent exchange coupling. To investigate the exchange coupling between the hard and soft magnetic phases, dM/dH values were plotted using the demagnetization curves which indicated the effective exchange coupling effect between the hard and soft phases. © 2020 IOP Publishing Ltd.

Enhancement of the maximum energy product in Ba0.5Sr0.5Fe12O19/Y3Fe5O12nanocomposites synthesized by the co-precipitation method

Influenza epidemics and pandemics are caused by influenza A virus. The cell surface protein of hemagglutinin and neuraminidase is responsible for viral infection and release of progeny virus on the host cell membrane. Now 18 hemagglutinin and 11 neuraminidase subtypes are identified. The avian influenza virus of H5N1 is an emergent threat to public health issues. To control the influenza viral infection it is necessary to develop antiviral inhibitors and vaccination. In the present investigation we carried out 50 ns Molecular Dynamics simulation on H5 hemagglutinin of Influenza A virus H5N1 complexed with fluorinated sialic acid by substituting fluorine atoms at any two hydroxyls of sialic acid by considering combinatorial combination. The binding affinity between the protein–ligand complex system is investigated by calculating pair interaction energy and MM-PBSA binding free energy. All the complex structures are stabilized by hydrogen bonding interactions between the H5 protein and the ligand fluorinated sialic acid. It is concluded from all the analyses that the fluorinated complexes enhance the inhibiting potency against H5 hemagglutinin and the order of inhibiting potency is SIA-F9 ≫ SIA-F2 ≈ SIA-F7 ≈ SIA-F2F4 ≈ SIA-F2F9 ≈ SIA-F7F9 > SIA-F7F8 ≈ SIA-F2F8 ≈ SIA-F8F9 > SIA-F4 ≈ SIA-F4F7 ≈ SIA-F4F8 ≈ SIA-F8 ≈ SIA-F2F7 ≈ SIA > SIA-F4F9. This study suggests that one can design the inhibitor by using the mono fluorinated models SIA-F9, SIA-F2 and SIA-F7 and difluorinated models SIA-F2F4, SIA-F2F9 and SIA-F7F9 to inhibit H5 of H5N1 to avoid Influenza A viral infection. Design of fluorinated sialic acid analog inhibitor to H5 hemagglutinin of H5N1 influenza virus through molecular dynamics simulation study

The transition metals Ti-doped LaFeO3 is prepared by Microwave sintered techniques for different concentration (X = 0, 0.2, 0.4 and 0.6) the aqueous materials involved Lanthanum Nitrate, Ferric nitrate and used urea as a fuel additive. The synthesized sample LaFeO3 and LaFe1-XTiXO3 nanoparticle have been characterized by powder X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis for the phase formation. Dielectric properties were represented in Dielectric constant, Dielectric loss, AC Conductivity, Impedance studies, Cole-Cole plots were analysed for the prepared nanoparticles for different frequencies at various temperatures. The dielectric properties as a purpose of frequency at low temperatures propose the occurrence of polarization in the samples owing to the electron hopping amid Fe3+ and Fe4+ ions. © 2020 Elsevier B.V.

Influences of Ti4+ ion on dielectric property in perovskite structure of La ferrite (LaFe1-XTiXO3)

In this paper, we design a novel photonic crystal fiber (PCF) chemical sensor wherein the cladding structure is made of a steering-wheel (SW)-shaped large non-circular air-hole. In this PCF, we introduce the rectangular air holes in the core and they are filled with any one of the analytes, namely, water, ethanol and benzene. We use the full-vectorial finite element method (FEM) to optimize the structural parameters. Based on the numerical results, we find that the proposed sensor exhibits a high relative sensitivity of 92.8%, 93.2% and 93.4% for water, ethanol and benzene, respectively, at THz. Furthermore, we study the various optical characteristics of the proposed PCF, namely, birefringence, effective area and numerical aperture (NA). © 2020 IETE.

Design of a Terahertz Alcohol Sensor Using a Steering-Wheel Microstructured Photonic Crystal Fiber

The REE (rare-earth-elements) cerium (Ce) is the most abundant earth-crust element and their oxides have great attention in the form of nanocrystalline nature with superior physical and chemical properties. Pure and Co (1%, 3% and 5%) doped CeO2 nanoparticles (NPs) synthesized by co-precipitation technique were characterized through X-ray diffraction (XRD), high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM), UV-visible spectroscopy. XRD shows face-centred-cubic (FCC) crystal symmetry with average crystallite size 6-12 nm. HRTEM exhibits almost identical cubical shaped particles with average size 4-10 nm. Tuned band-gap may be observed from UV-visible spectrum of CeO2-NPs upon Co (1%, 3% 5%) incorporation. Enhancement of the photocatalytic activity observed for Co-doped (1%, 3% 5%) to the degradation of methylene-blue (MB) dye under visible-light absorption. © 2020 Materials Research Society.

Resilient cyber physical infrastructure for single‐phase dual inverter with sliding mode control

In the recent past, Mohapatra and Balakrishnan (Quantum Inf Process 16:147, 2017) proposed a controller-independent bidirectional quantum direct communication protocol using Bell states. In this work, we show the possibility of the achieving same protocol with non-maximally entangled states without compromising on the security and the efficiency of the protocol. We exploit the degree of entanglement as an additional security parameter. By doing so, the eavesdropper always gets detected in the initial stages of the protocol in the case of an intercept and resend attack. On the other hand, there is only 25% chance that the eavesdropper goes undetected in the initial stages of the protocol proposed by Mohapatra and Balakrishnan. Thus, the proposed protocol can be implemented with the viable physical resources. © 2020, Springer Science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature.
