India's agriculture is a significant component of the Gross National Product and is largely dependent on the Indian summer monsoon. This makes an accurate prediction of rainfall a key factor in improving agricultural production. A statistical cycle, widely known to have a strong 2.85-year period and will therefore be called a triennial oscillation here, plays a vital role in such predictions. In the present work, we examine the spatial distribution of this short-period oscillation at 1° × 1° (lat./long.) resolution using 1,260-month data (1901–2005). A power spectral analysis of the observed data set shows that the statistically significant triennial oscillation (at 95{\%} confidence level) is present over 54{\%} of the total number of 354 grids across India, which covers 69.03{\%} area. Projections of selected data from models used in Coupled-Model Inter-comparison Project Phase 5 predict weakening of this oscillation (in amplitude) by 2100. The projections indicate reduced confidence levels of this oscillation at 80{\%}, 85{\%} and 90{\%}, respectively, in 3{\%}, 20{\%} and 62{\%} of the selected 54{\%} grids, which covers 41.3{\%} area. A weakened triennial monsoon cycle will have a severe impact on agriculture and water resource management, particularly over the southwest-coastal, northern and northeast-central parts of India.

Weakening of Triennial Oscillation of the Indian Summer Monsoon Rainfall (at 1° × 1° Gridded Scale) Under Future Global Warming

The Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission (TRMM) 3B42 version 7 precipitation data has been extensively used for inter-comparison with observations and model validation. The rain distribution over the Northwest Himalaya (NWH) were found to be accurate with a strong positive correlation of 0.88 between TRMM and India Meteorological Department (IMD) station data, supporting the use of 3B42 V7 for the study of extreme rainfall events (ERE's) over the region. However, many high resolution satellite data sets were made available in the recent past and their potential have not been evaluated for ERE's like cloudbursts in the NWH. The present endeavor aims to provide guidance to the choice of global precipitation data sets (GPDs). In particular, this study is conducted to evaluate three recent satellite-based rainfall products, i.e. Global Precipitation Measurements (GPM), Indian National Satellite System (INSAT 3D) and CPC Morphing Technique (CMORPH), against the highly used TRMM-RT 3B42 V7 precipitation data for the estimation of rainfall episodes in the recent years (2014-2016). Our results reveal that the magnitude of precipitation and location of peak rainfall are biased in INSAT 3D, whereas CMORPH and the high resolution GPM product capture it with relatively higher values of the employed statistical metrics. Also, the rainfall estimates from GPM and CMORPH are in good agreement with TRMM for cloudbursts events. Particularly, high resolution GPM is useful for monitoring the extreme rainfall event in the region.

A Rough Entropy-Based Weighted Density Outlier Detection Method for Two Universal Sets

The advancements in communication networks and computation over the years have led to a massive volume of data flowing from one place to another. A lot of cryptosystems have been proposed and implemented to keep the channel of communication secure. But with increasingly powerful computers rolling out every day, more and more complicated systems are being built with moderate data overheads to ensure maximum security over the channel. So, in this paper, we briefly discuss the strengths and weaknesses of the three most popular symmetric-key cryptosystems: AES, DES, and 3DES. It has been supported by the various organizations that it with the computers of today, DES can be broken using brute-force attacks in a reasonable amount of time. Given its simple nature of implementation and small key size, we propose a modified implementation of DES to enhance its security with a minimum computational trade-off. © Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2019.

Study of Symmetric-Key Cryptosystems and Implementing a Secure Cryptosystem with DES

Internet of things (IoT) incorporated with intelligent transportation systems (ITS) aided the design and development of internet of vehicles (IoV) for real-time applications. The applications of IoV in healthcare and medical field include smart monitoring and emergency vehicle transportation for improving its efficiency and improving reliability. Data handling and communication management are complex tasks in IoV aided healthcare applications due to the conventional issues in vehicular communication. To address the problem of data stagnancy and intermittent transmission in IoV communication, a multi-modal tree-driven transmission (MTT) scheme is designed. This transmission scheme balance is between neighbor selection and medical data management by preferring adaptive tree for transmitting emergency messages. By exploiting the multi-modal characteristics of the vehicle and data, the transmission scheme is scaled in an end-to-end manner. Precise neighbor selection, independent decision-process are the intermediate solutions assimilated in MTT for improving successful latency less delivery of medical data from the smart vehicles. The performance of the proposed MTT is assessed through simulations and is verified using the metrics latency, storage handling, transmission backlogs and data processing rate. © 2020 Mattingley Publishing. A multi-modal learning assisted vehicle selection for optimizing IOV communications in medical information handling

Security is an important phenomena for energy conservation in wireless sensor networks (WSN). Moreover, the management of trust in the WSN is a challenging task since trust is used when collaboration is critical to achieve reliable communication. In a military application using WSN, it is often necessary to communicate secret information such as military operation urgently. However, the existing routing algorithms do not consider security in the routing process. Moreover, since security is an important aspect in WSN, it is necessary to consider the security aspects in routing algorithms. Different approaches for providing security are trust management, intrusion detection, firewalls and key management are considered in the literature. Among them, trust management can provide enhanced security when it is compared with other security methods. Therefore, a new secure routing algorithm called energy aware trust based secure routing algorithm is proposed in this paper where the trust score evaluation is used to detect the malicious users effectively in WSN and spatio-temporal constraints are used with decision tree algorithm for selecting the best route. From the experiments conducted, it is proved that the proposed trust based routing algorithm achieves significant performance improvement over the existing schemes in terms of security, energy efficiency and packet delivery ratio. © 2019, Springer Science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature.

An Energy Aware Trust Based Secure Routing Algorithm for Effective Communication in Wireless Sensor Networks

The main objective of the proposed work is to provide an optimal routing in wireless communication in order to improve the better achievable data rates. High bandwidth routing is the most desired advantage in networks with portable nodes. The main objective is to attain a high bandwidth route for increasing the delivery rate in mobile adhoc networks (MANETs). Dynamic high bandwidth (DHB) nodes are selected for consecutive data transmission in MANETs by evaluating their available virtual channel bandwidth using channel rate. The total efficiency of a node is measured through the packets currently received by a node; the corresponding delay and the bandwidth estimated from that received packet. Thereby the routes are computed by this dynamic estimation to improve routing capability in MANETS. Dynamic high bandwidth nodes for routing in MANETs

The influence of tempering treatments on mechanical properties and hydrogen embrittlement (HE) of 13 wt% Cr martensitic stainless steel (MSS) have been investigated by Charpy impact tests and slow strain rate tensile (SSRT) tests followed by fracture surface examination. The austenitized and quenched specimens were tempered at 300, 550 and 700 °C for 2.5 h. The MSS tempered at 550 °C showed brittle intergranular (IG) fracture after impact tests indicating its susceptibility to temper embrittlement. The experimental results showed that the 13 wt% Cr MSS is sensitive to HE. The as-quenched condition showed cracking during hydrogen pre-charging itself. Hydrogen pre-charging duration increased the susceptibility to HE of tempered MSS. The maximum HE susceptibility was observed for specimen tempered at 550 °C with a drastic reduction in strength and strain to failure. Tempering at 300 and 550 °C showed brittle IG fracture with hydrogen pre-charging in SSRT tests whereas increased IG region with ductile dimples was observed for specimen tempered at 700 °C with increase of pre-charging duration. The reason for maximum susceptibility to HE of specimen tempered at 550 °C is due to synergistic interaction of hydrogen and impurities segregated at prior austenitic grain boundaries. © 2019 Elsevier Ltd

Influence of tempering treatments on mechanical properties and hydrogen embrittlement of 13 wt% Cr martensitic stainless steel

The ever-increasing fame of wireless technologies and their purposefulness of usage in the communication scenario is fascinating the interest of customers day by day. As we all know that this is the recent technology within the mobile telecommunications is the 4G architecture. Long term evolution (LTE) is said to be the nominee of the next generation in the direction of 4G in mobile broadband technology, which offers a data rate of 100 Mbps and works with IP. It is recently an emerging technology and it offers enhanced speed, capacity and coverage for present mobility networks. LTE, which is considered to be an IP based network, is said to eradicate the issues present in the communication systems such as lack of resources and distributed services to the users in their day to day life. It increases the speed and capacity with improvements in core network deployment and different radio interfaces all together. In order to provide a seamless and high speed communication, customization of channel is needed for each individual user. For channel allocation, there are several methods to predict available channel and optimal usage of channel to users. By the optimal selection of channel and customized scheduling, we can manage the data transmission to users. For this process, LTE system was used to schedule the channel. However, in LTE scheduling, the scheduler has to verify the channel information, user availability and hand off status in the network. The above mentioned criterions might create some limitation during scheduling of the channel. In order to overcome this limitation, we propose a novel feature extraction method and classification method for data mining process to retrieve the information about a network for LTE scheduling. In addition to this here in this paper we have analyzed the dataset and with the help of MATLAB.
