Demand for a flexible and foot plantar pressure sensor to monitor abnormalities in locomotor activities in our day to day life is highly important particularly for patients with osteoarthritis. These should have better sensitivity and spatial resolution than the conventional pressure mats and force resistive sensors. Present paper discusses the development of a miniaturized thin film strain sensor over a flexible PDMS elastomeric surface which can be a generic one to measure the strain under the foot and can be used to map and study the foot pressure distribution by both the legs for analysis of various limb problems, pain or foot ulceration using an array of similar flexible metal strain gauges. In the present work, aluminium strain sensor has been fabricated through thin film deposition technique using Kapton tape as a low-cost stencil mask with a resistance value of ~ 12.65 ω. The corresponding strain analysis has also been modeled using COMSOL Multiphysics® 5.3a. Initial simulation result shows a resistance value of 42 ω for a similar configuration which shows good correlation between the two under unstrained condition and increases with increasing pressure. Based on foot pressure mapping from an array of such strain sensors, osteoarthritis and other locomotive abnormalities can be diagnosed at an earlier stage in the long run. © 2019 IEEE.

Fabrication of Flexible Thin Film Strain Sensors using Kapton Tape as Stencil Mask

In the field of Radio frequency communication devices, the switch is found its place in most of the applications has quite improved along with other RF components. Traditional switch using of semiconductor devices like MOSFET and PIN diode has made the switch in par with device integration, still faces the challenges with lossy currents are replaced with MEMS. Though adopted with different actuation schemes the capacitive switch has its most application for its feasibility of device parameters and adaptability to meet most of the requirements of RF design. Though having advantageous over the other RF switches, switching speed and pull in voltages are the major limitation of the MEMS RF capacitive switch, which is related to each other. In this paper, we have concentrated on improving the speed of the switch, by improving the resonant frequency of the beam without altering its dimensions. The design of switch dimensions is chosen for wide-band applications 18-40 GHz, with stress concentration regions. This was improved the switch resonant frequency by 300 Hz and overall switching speed by 5-15 ns with different stress concentration regions. © 2019 IEEE.

Nadi Pariksha is a non-invasive pulse diagnosis method for assessing health of person in Ayurveda. The disease caused can be related to imbalance in any of three doshas i.e. vatha, pittha and kapha. The health status of the person is examined by Ayurvedic physician by feeling palpation from three fingers (index, middle and ring) placed on the radial artery for vatha, pittha and kapha respectively. In present research work the design and development of the pulse diagnosis system was carried out, in which Photoplethysmography (PPG) sensor was interfaced with Arduino was used to acquire wrist pulse signals from subjects in the form of data sets. Matlab software was used in signal processing after performing frequency domain analysis using power spectrum to design a filter and feature extraction was performed on these signals. Algorithms for three parameters were designed related to pulse sensors namely pulse wave velocity, augmentation index and reflectivity index. Data sets were created with the help of hundred volunteers. After performing statistical analysis on these data sets a standard signal was established. Finally this experimental setup was used to diagnose patients with symptoms associated with imbalance in Tridosha to look for deviations from the standard vatha pittha kapha signal and these results were compared with theoretical results as per Ayurveda. Based on this research we came up with a conclusion with respect to the system designed. © 2019 IEEE.

Pulse diagnosis System for Nadi Pariksha using parametric and statistical analysis

In this paper we propose to create an Arduino based weather forecasting system using various sensors. The objective of this paper is to present to you a portable weather monitoring and rain forecasting system. Weather refers to the conditions of the atmosphere by measuring day to day temperature changes and describes various attributes of the troposphere [1]. While climate refers to an average over vast ranges of time [2]. With advancement of technology the act of automating weather monitoring is not only possible but also beneficial. This system will be of interest and use to weather enthusiasts and companies or individuals whose work depends on weather conditions. For example this system will be helpful in agriculture for monitoring the weather and giving warnings when the weather conditions become adverse to the planted crops. Some sports depend specifically on the weather and this system can be used for aiding sportsmen who participate in such sports.

Portable Autonomous Rain Prediction Model Using Machine Learning Algorithm

A Wireless Patient Monitoring System using Integrated ECG module, Pulse Oximeter, Blood Pressure and Temperature Sensor

Two fluorescent aptasensor methods were developed for the detection of ATP in biochemical systems. The first method consisted of a label-free fluorescent "turn-on" approach using a guanine-rich ATP aptamer sequence and the DNA-binding agent berberine complex. In the presence of ATP, the ATP preferentially binds with its aptamer and conformationally changes into a G-quadruplex structure. The association of berberine with the G-quadruplex results in the enhancement of the fluorescence signal of the former. The detection limit of ATP was found to be 3.5 μM. Fluorescence, circular dichroism and melting temperature (Tm) experiments were carried out to confirm the binding specificity and structural changes. The second method employs the ratiometric fluorescent approach based on the Forster resonance energy transfer (FRET) for the detection of ATP using berberine along with a quencher (AuNRs, AgNPs) and a fluorophore (red quantum dots (RQDs), carbon dots (CDs)) labeled at 5' and 3' termini of the ATP-binding aptamer sequence. Upon addition of ATP and berberine, ATP specifically binds with its aptamer leading to the formation of G-quadruplex, and similarly, berberine also binds to the G-quadruplex. This leads to an enhancement of fluorescence of berberine while that of RQD and CDs were significantly quenched via FRET. The respective detection limits calculated were 3.6 μM and 3.8 μM, indicating these fluorescent aptasensor methods may be used for a wide variety of small molecules. Graphical abstract.
